Walleye and White Bass fishing is World renown in Wisconsin's Wolf River Country. But it's really a small percentage of the anglers who do well year after year. Sure, the local angler has the inside track and can target the right time, but traveling anglers don't always have that luxery. Sometimes it's just a matter of which spring weekend you have off for fishing that determins what you have to prepare for. With all the things families have to do these days, it's hard to drop everything and run when the fishing reports say it's hot. Even if you do, as you may have learned, by the time you get there the weather and boat traffic changed the bite. That's why I've put together this group of links
and pieces of information. It's designed to help you keep track of what is going on and game plan your arrival. Fishing reports are often outdated by the time you read them. Someone who got a limit on Monday, told the bait shop Tuesday, who posted it on Wednesday. You see it and drop everything to be here on Thursday morning. You see where I'm going on this one don't you. The guys that really catch fish, are the guys that knew to be here Monday. By Thursday, things could be quite different. If we're talking spring, the school of fish they were on could be MILES up stream or water temps could have dropped to lip tightening temperatures. So many factors come in to play, it's almost impossible to figure it out, especially from a fishing report on Lake-Link. But fishing reports, message boards, blogs and other Internet tools are very important to putting together a good game plan. But here's a few tips. Don't forget how to use a phone. When it's busy, people can't always get to their email. Also, take time to visit during the slow times of year to make friends and get to know the area. I've found many of my best spring fishing spots during the low water of summer, oh, and still caught walleye. YUP, they are here all year long. Use the links and information below to game plan, think ahead and be the one MAKING the reports of great fishing, not in the crowd of people REACTING to the reports of great fishing.
